They said 'no problem'. When I arrived in London and went to my next flight, security confiscated my bottle of booze. The were very nice about it, but they still took it from me. The security agent told me that you can not bring in a bottle of liquor unless it was purchased in a EU country.
He also told me that Dubai Duty Free does this all the time.they'll say anything to get the sale. Anyhow, please be forewarned. Don't buy liquor from Dubai Duty Free, especially if you are entering an EU country.
The prices aren't that great anyway. I will now resist saying anything that might offend anyone from that part of the world. You unfortunate experience hasn't got anything to do with Dubai (except that they should have asked you whether you'd have a change of plane or not) but with the stupid liquid ban. Even if you had had a direct flight to the US followed by a connection your booze would have been tossed out. Example: If you flew Dubai-New York non-stop and New York was your final destination you can buy all the booze you want. Same applies if you fly to London and that is your final destination.
